Inmate walks away from Northpoint Training Center

The Kentucky State Police is searching for a Richmond man who walked away from the Northpoint Training Center on Ky. 33 near Burgin sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning.
Thomas L. Meeks, 39, is about 5’10, weighs 140 pounds and has blue eyes.
He was in jail serving a sentence for theft by unlawful taking and second-degree burglary, a Class C felony, according to Trooper Robert Purdy with the Kentucky State Police, and was in the minimum security portion of the facility.
According to online court documents, there are two active cases on Meeks in Madison County. Meeks could face escape charges, according to Purdy.
KRS 520.030 states that second-degree escape refers to those escaping from a detention facility or custody, the latter while being charged with a felony or after having been charged with a felony. It is a Class D felony.
KSP Trooper Hunter Hensley is leading the investigation.
