Robert Joseph “Bob” Reister, 86, of Danville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025. He was born on March 2, 1938, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Joseph and Alice Dougherty Reister. Bob Reister lived a life dedicated to his family, profession, and community. He is preceded in death by his wife Agnes Hatfield Reister and his brother Daniel Reister.
Robert obtained his master’s degree and built a successful career as a pharmacist, proudly serving the community as the owner of Grider Pharmacy and then at Kroger for 17 years. His contributions to the community and his dedication to the well-being of others will be cherished by all who know him. In addition to his work, he was deeply engaged in his church, a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus holding the position of financial secretary for the Knights for over three decades. Bob was also a member of the Old Goats Club, finding joy and camaraderie with fellow members.
Bob was a passionate gardener who took great delight in nurturing plants and tending his garden. He is remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his warmth, kindness, and sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Paula Reister; his sons, Robert Floyd (Melinda) Reister, Michael Joseph (Rebecca) Reister, Paul Gerard (Marta) Reister, and David Alan ((Stacy) Reister; his daughters, Mary Alice (Doug) McClain and Angela Daryl Reister; step-children Megan (Matthew) Fish and Matthew (Rhonda) Fitzwater; his brothers, Richard (Chris) Reister, Leo (Lana) Reister, and Joe (Marsha) Reister, and his sister, Nora (Bill) Prescott, twenty-two grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral Mass will be at noon, Thursday, February 27, 2025, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Celebrant Father Danny Schwendeman officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until Mass at noon Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
