David Allen Simpson, 84, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born on May 17, 1940 in Garrard County, KY to the late Weldon Davis Simpson and Francis Folger Simpson. David was a lifelong farmer. He raised beef cattle, tobacco, and other crops. He was a Mason for the Lancaster Lodge #104 for over 50 years. David was also a part of Shriners for many years. He also served as a magistrate for Buckeye as well. David was a member of Gunns Chapel Church in Buckeye. Surviving is his loving wife, Aileen Broadus Simpson of Lancaster; a son, Steve Simpson (Trish) of Lancaster; a daughter, Roxane Newby (Daryl) of Lexington; two grandchildren, Zachary Tyler Simpson of Nicholasville; and Adam Daryl Newby (Sarah) of Lexington; three great grandchildren, Rowan Graham Simpson, Cambree Newby, and Coraline Newby. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Spann, Rev. Steve Burton and Rev. Sammy Glenn. Visitation will be 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers are Steve Rhodus, James Porter Wilmot, Justin Wilmot, Ron Moberly, Johnny King, Bill Graves, Dalmus McFerron, and Mike Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Gunns Chapel Church members and community. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Gideons International Garrard Camp, P.O. Box 644, Lancaster, KY 40444 or Gunns Chapel Church in care of Debbie Rhodus, 178 Wolf Trail, Lancaster, KY 40444.
