Boyle County spared the worst of Sunday night storms

Crews were hard at work Monday to restore power to nearly 600 households in Boyle County that were still without electricity after severe weather tore across Kentucky on Sunday night. The storm left more than 100,000 homes across the state without power.
Boyle County Emergency Management estimates a total of 2,000 households total lost power with wind damage being limited mostly to downed trees.
Other nearby counties were hit much harder.
According to reports, the storm left 17,000 homes in Madison County without power. Winds are reported to have reached up to 70 miles per hour with golf ball sized hail damaging homes and vehicles. Some areas reported hail as large as a baseball. The high winds knocked down the a fence at Eastern Kentucky University’s Roy Kidd football stadium with the debris blocking parts of the Eastern Bypass.
