This week’s featured pet is Hope, a small Bull Terrier-mix with a big belly and an even bigger heart ready to join your family. Hope was surrendered to the shelter after her owner passed away. She’s been in a loving home for five years and just needs to find a new forever home to give her the love and attention she deserves.

What can we say about Hope? She’s so sweet and carefree that you can’t help smiling with her. She’s a very chonky girl with tons of energy, and, at around five years old, Hope still has many years of love to give.

Hope may be carrying some extra weight but in her mind she’s young with all the speed and enthusiasm of a pup. She may not run fast but she will not stop trying! She loves to play with other dogs, chase balls, and just romp around the yard.

Hope is definitely overweight and will need to be kept on a strict feeding schedule for a while. No treats or table scraps, though we’re sure she’d happily take them! Given her energy and enthusiasm, with a controlled diet and lots of walks, Hope will, fairly quickly, return her sporting weight. This won’t be a problem with her bubbling enthusiasm and energy.

Hope is fixed, microchipped, up to date on her vaccines, and ready to go home. Apply now: dbchs.org/adopt and meet her at DBCHS between 1-4 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 1-7pm Thursday, and Saturday between 10 am-3 pm. We hope to see you soon!
