PERRYVILLE — A home at 205 E. First St. in Perryville caught fire about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
When firefighters with the Perryville Fire Department arrived, “heavy smoke was pushing from the roof area,” according to a release from Perryville Fire Chief Anthony Young.
Perryville responded to the blaze with 16 firefighters.
“An interior attack was made to the fire conditions in the attic of the structure, and the fire was extinguished,” according to Young.
Young said about one-third of the home sustained smoke and fire damage. The fire was mostly contained to the attic.
There were four occupants and “numerous” pets, who were safely evacuated from the home.
