Pastor anniversary

New Horizon Missionary Baptish Church, located at 229 Fox Run Trail in Danville, will be celebrating the Second Pastoral Anniversary of their pastor, Mark D. Anthony, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. services on Sunday, April 9. The morning service will be led by Pastor Darris Waters of True Light Mission Baptist Church, Oak Ridge Tennessee. The afternoon service guest preacher will be Pastor Victor Sholar of the Main Street Baptist Church in Lexington.

A fellowship dinner will be served following the morning service in the Hogsett Elementary School cafeteria, located at 300 Waveland Avenue. The community is invited to come and share with New Horizon on this day.

Pastor  Anthony became the second pastor of the church on Oct. 26, 2015 and was officially installed on Sunday, April 12, 2015 by Pastor Victor Sholar of the Main Street Baptist Church in Lexington.

Evening of praise

HARRODSBURG — Evening of Praise 2017 will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 15 at the Old Harrodsburg High School auditorium, 371 East Lexington Street. Everyone and their families are invited to this free evening of praise to our Lord and Savior with gospel and rap music, comedy and dance. The Thurstons to sing

The Thurstons will be singing at Calvary Hill Baptist Church at the 10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday, April 9. Bro. Brad King, pastor. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the The Thurstons.

Dave and Marni Thurston have shared the stage with many gospel music icons, such as The Booth Bros., Signature Sound, Triumphant, The Perry’s and The Hoppers. They have had top 40 charting success with their songs, “I Am Blessed”, God’s Word Will Stand”, and “God’s Been Faithful”.

In September 2013 the power house vocalist, Monty Bishop teamed with Dave and Marni to maintain a solid Thurston sound and strong ministry. Monty has been a friend for over 30 years, “so it feels like family”, Dave says. Monty brings over 30 years of solo ministry and church work experience to The Thurstons stage, which contributes a great deal to their concerts and services.

Blakey Quartet to sing

PERRYVILLE — The Blakey Quartet will be ministering in song at 11 a.m. on Palm Sunday, April 9 at Perryville United Methodist Church. 

The Living Last Supper

STANFORD — The public is cordially invited to share in the performance of “The Living Last Supper” at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Stanford Baptist Church. “The Living Last Supper”, written by Ernest K. Pmurian and edited by Ben Hawkins, depicts DiVinci’s painting, Last Supper.  

The cast includes: Nathaniel, Tony Potts; James the Lesser, Jeff Morris; Andrew, Jonathan Baker; Judas, Shawn Ingram; Peter, Brandon Curlis; John, Mark Upchurch; Thomas, Daniel Foster; James, Tim Godbey; Phillip, Travis Leffew; Matthew, David Grigson; Thaddeus, Ricky Mullins; Simon the Zealot, Damon Foster; Jesus, Michael Tracy. Billy Harris will serve as narrator.

In this play, each of the disciples give a heart searching narrative as they try to determine who will betray Christ. This is an opportunity for the audience to also search their own hearts.

Soloists for the program will be Evonna Marcum, Michael Tracy, Rachael Yaden and Lisa Johnson. Accompanists will be Becky Stogsdill, piano; and Laura Lee Wesley, organ.  Sound and lighting by Dennis Spangler, Cebern Moore and Roby Mullins.

The community is invited to share in this Holy Week event. An offering will be received to benefit Fort Logan Cooperative Ministries and a reception will follow the service in the Christian Life Center.

Revivals

BRODHEAD — Philadelphia United Baptist Church will be having a revival at 7 p.m. April 19-22 with Bro. Russel Murphy and the Murphy Family singers. The church is located at 834 Bryant Ridge Road in Brodhead. Pastor is Gordan Mink.

Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. and church service is at 11 a.m.. Sunday night service is 6 p.m. and Bible study is on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

PARKSVILLE — Pleasant Run Baptist Church will have revival with Dwight Coffman beginning Sunday at 6 p.m. and Monday through Thursday at 7 p.m. J.r Fields is the pastor.

Singing and revival

Mt. Salem Baptist Church will have the “Crossroads” of Russell Springs to sing on April 9 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. The church is on Ky. 198 between McKinney and Middleburg in Lincoln County.

Mt. Salem Baptist Church will also have a revival April 10-14 at 7 p.m. The evangelist will be Bro. Mark Yaden. Pastor Kevin Jones and congregation invites everyone to attend.

Fish and chicken sale

Southern Sons

The St. James A.M.E. Church is having The Southern Sons from Memphis, Tennessee sing at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 16. The church is located at 1224 East Walnut St., Danville. Pastor is Ralph Smith. Everyone is invited.

Area Baptists to gather

Baptists from South District Baptist Association will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday at First Baptist Church (SBC) on the Danville ByPass for their semi-annual meeting. A meal will be served at 6 p.m., a special dedication will be held at 6:45 p.m. and the main meeting will be at 7 p.m.

The main speaker will be Phillip Coffman, pastor of Parksville Baptist Church.

 South District held its annual “Souper Bowl” food drive again this year and the goal of 75,000 items was exceeded. The final total will be revealed at the meeting. Executive Director John Morris of GAP, one of several beneficiaries of the food drive will also speak.

Wes Carter, Director of the Campbellsville University Harrodsburg-Danville Learning Center, will report on Campbellsville University. Enrollment at the Learning Center in Harrodsburg is growing so rapidly that a second building is now going to be constructed.

A special feature of the meeting will be the dedication of an enclosed trailer to be used by member churches and is currently in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on a mission trip. The trailor was donated by Norma Gail Louis, pianist at First Baptist Church.

Music will be led by Insco Sonny Rue, South District Music Team Leader and Minister of Music at Gethsemane Baptist Church.  Moderator for South District is Rev. Bobby Estes of Harrodsburg and associate moderator is Rev. Monty Carney of Stanford. Director of Missions is Rev. Jim Clontz, Ph.D., of Danville.
