As the horns warm up Friday, the City of Danville will formally cut the ribbon on its multi-year renovation of Weisiger Park.

The final feature of the new park — the water curtain behind the concrete stage — is now complete. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, according to Jennifer Kirchner, director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Kirchner said the ceremony will include some comments from Mayor Mike Perros, but will be brief so everyone can get on with enjoying the Brass Band Festival.

Details on the final cost of the project, which has been estimated at more than $600,000, will be available soon, Kirchner said.
