Ephraim McDowell Health announces that it has awarded scholarships to nine area students who are pursuing careers in health care.

The health care system awards a $1,000 renewable scholarship to high school seniors or a $2,000 renewable scholarship to college students from Boyle and the surrounding counties.

In addition, the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) Auxiliary and the Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital (EMFLH) Auxiliary award $1,000 health care scholarships to high school seniors in Boyle and Lincoln counties and they offer $500 scholarships to individuals who participated in the Teen Volunteer Program. The EMRMC Auxiliary also awards a Sherry Colleen Durbin Memorial Scholarship to high school seniors in Boyle County who are pursuing careers in health care. New to the scholarship awards this year was the Keith and Vicki A. Darnell Scholarship which offers $500 to a high school senior pursuing a health care career.

Receiving the Ephraim McDowell Health Care Scholarships are:

Elizabeth Lyons, of Boyle County, plans to attend Western Kentucky University this fall to begin her pursuit of a career as a physician.

Taylor Floyd of Lincoln County is planning to attend Western Kentucky University to obtain her degree and prepare for a career as a pharmacist.

Sarah Harne of Casey County will be attending the Honors College at Western Kentucky University in the fall to obtain a degree in communication disorders.

Lauren Goodlett of Mercer County is currently attending Eastern Kentucky University pursing a degree in physical therapy.

John Noe II of Lincoln County will be attending Eastern Kentucky University to obtain a degree in pre-medicine in pursuit of his career as a physician.

Shelby Moore, of Boyle County, received a $1,000 EMRMC Auxiliary Scholarship and the $500 EMRMC Auxiliary Teen Scholarship and will attend Eastern Kentucky University to achieve her occupational therapy degree. 

Madison Caldwell, of Boyle County, received the $500 Sherry Colleen Durbin Memorial Scholarship. She is attending Bluegrass Community & Technical College to obtain her degree in nursing.

Taylor Floyd, of Lincoln County, received the $500 EMFLH Auxiliary Teen Scholarship.

John Noe II, of Lincoln County, received the $1,000 EMFLH Auxiliary Scholarship.

Ellie Begley, of Boyle County, received the final $500 Gayle Barnett Memorial Scholarship and plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University to pursue a nursing degree.

Ana-Maria Starcevic, of Boyle County, was awarded the first $500 Keith and Vicki A. Darnell Scholarship. She plans on attending Bluegrass Community & Technical College to obtain a degree in nursing.
