Dear Editor,

Stuart Powell was more than the Outstanding Citizen of the Year, an honor he received in 1996 from the Danville-Boyle County Chamber ofCommerce. Indeed, he was truly an outstanding citizen and man for all of his 89 years.

Stuart was a true southern gentleman — polite, respectful and gracious to everyone. He was a “gentle giant” in all his business and civic endeavors and left a legacy of caring and generosity in our community.

Much loved by his family and friends, employees, non-profit agencies, aviation associates and his church family at First Christian, Stuart Powell was “one of a kind” and will be greatly missed. It was an honor to have known him and have him live and walk among us. Blessings, dear Stuart.
