Ribbon cutting
Danville Florist, located at 423 South Fourth St. will be having a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. The business will also be having an open house and special prices on Christmas items.

Tax preparation class

Patriot Tax Service will hold classes (no charge) of tax preparation starting December 5 and running through January 11. The class will meet Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stanford office. For more information, contact Marsha at (859) 583-0798.

Inter-County hosting Christmas Blessings silent auction
Inter-County Energy is hosting its 10th annual Christmas Blessings Silent Auction this Friday, Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The auction will be held in the Community Room and is open to all employees and public. Any donation of items or baked goods for the auction is greatly appreciated. All proceeds will be used to purchase gifts, clothing, food and coats for children and families in each of Inter-County Energy service areas.

Northpoint Training Center receives perfect audit score

FRANKFORT – Northpoint Training Center (NTC) in Boyle County received a perfect audit score on its recent re-accreditation audit with the American Correctional Association (ACA). The prison received its initial accreditation in 1987 and this 100 percent audit score marks the prison’s 10th accreditation in the history of the institution.
NTC is a medium-security prison and houses 1,256 inmates.
“I am very proud of the Northpoint staff,” said Corrections Interim Commissioner Jim Erwin. “Receiving a perfect score is no small matter. This shows the high level of hard work and dedication of staff to meet ACA’s rigorous standards.”
In announcing the scores, audit chairperson Maggie Capel was especially complimentary of the Northpoint staff and the facility’s upkeep. Capel retired from the Arkansas corrections system after 34 years.
“It was an honor to be here,” said Capel. “We found your staff to be very professional, very cooperative, knowledgeable, and responsive. The pride you have in your facility was evident. This facility is very clean, very well maintained, and very orderly,” she added.
NTC Warden Don Bottom praised his staff for the accomplishment. “Thank you staff, for your hard work,” said Bottom. “Not just for this audit. This is just a reflection of what you do every day. This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate to an independent review team what you are doing, and to confirm we are on the path to maintaining accreditation and will continue to grow in the future and get better. I am really excited for you all.  What an amazing job you do every day.”
This ACA accreditation consisted of approximately 525 standards that covered security, operational and programming aspects of the prison. Each of Kentucky’s prisons are audited by ACA every three years and have a program security review every year. Kentucky has been a member of ACA since the early 1980s.

Northpoint Training Center announces promotions
BURGIN – Northpoint Training Center announced promotions for employees.
Keith Schneider of Lancaster, was promoted to safety coordinator on October 16. Schneider began his employment at NTC as a correctional officer in January 2015. He was promoted to correctional lieutenant in March 2017.
Lee May of Lebanon, was promoted to Correctional Sergeant on November 1. May began her employment at NTC as a Correctional Officer in June 2016.

Employees  recognized at NTC

BURGIN– Eva Cochran of Danville, was selected as “Employee of the Month” for September 2017 and Christian Toelke of Liberty, was selected as “Employee of the Month” for October 2017 at Northpoint Training Center.  Cochran began her employment at NTC in March 2002 as a Correctional Officer. She promoted to Offender Information Specialist I in August 2003, Classification and Treatment Officer in August 2004 and Correctional Unit Administrator I in November 2008. Cochran was selected as “Employee of the Month” based on her outstanding job performance. She received a letter of commendation and was assigned a reserved parking space for the month.Toelke began her employment at NTC in September 2014 as a Correctional Officer. She promoted to Classification and Treatment Officer in October 2015. Toelke was selected as “Employee of the Month” based on her outstanding job performance. She received a letter of commendation and was assigned a reserved parking space for the month.
