Casey County Senior Citizens collecting items

The Casey County Senior Citizens Center is collecting aluminum soda can tabs and items for the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald House Family Room. If you would like to contribute tabs or items to help us in our endeavor for this charity organization, please drop them off at: Senior Citizen’s Center, 85 Beldon Ave. Liberty or call Tommye Allen, Director, Casey Co. Senior Citizens, (606) 787-7951. We will be delivering the pop tabs and items on Friday, Dec. 8.

The wish list for the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room includes Lysol Disinfectant Spray,  powdered laundry detergent, Kaboom® brand cleaner (in a can,) Clorox antibacterial Wipes, etc., aluminum foil, plastic wrap, freezer bags (sandwich size), Swiffer® Wet refills, gift cards for Walmart, gift cards for Amazon.com, new journals, white bath towels, new standard size pillows, deodorant, shaving cream, liquid hand soap, liquid dish soap, hand sanitizer (travel size), breakfast cereal snack cakes (individually wrapped), chips (individual serving size), fruit cups (individual serving size). 

Bradfordsville Christmas Gala

The Bradfordsville Christmas Gala will be held Friday, Dec. 8 at the old Bradfordsville School gym. Admission is $10. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for the meal. Music will begin at 7 p.m. Clinton Spaulding with Kelly Casey and Christy Miller. The meal includes roast pork tenderloin and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, hot rolls, dessert and drink. Cost is $10. Concessions will also be available including hot dogs, chili dogs, chips, popcorn, candy bars, etc. All food is sold separately. Meetings

Danville-Boyle County Planning and Zoning Commission – 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at city  hall. Agenda includes: four subdivision approvals; site plan and zone change approvals; committee reports.

Daughters of the American Revolution — 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at the Danville Country Club. Any woman 18 years of age or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible. Any woman interested in joining is invited to attend.

Danville-Boyle County Recreation Commission – 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at City Hall. This is a special called board meeting. Agenda includes: treasurer’s report; petitions and presentations; maintenance report; and new business including memorial area for Harmon family and board member presentations.

Correction

A story about the Danville City Commission giving City Manager Ron Scott a raise that appeared in the Dec. 2-3 issue listed incorrect figures concerning Scott’s raise. This year, Scott is receiving a $115,000 salary plus a 10-percent ($11,500) contribution to a 457 deferred compensation plan, among other benefits. On Friday, the Danville City Commission approved a 3-percent raise for Scott following his performance evaluation, making his salary in 2018 $118,450, an increase of $3,450. That increase also affects the 10 percent paid into the deferred compensation plan, increasing it by $345 to $11,845. The city commission capped Scott’s total compensation package at $130,000.
