Gov. Bevin makes appointment to Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 14, 2018)  – Gov. Matt Bevin made the following appointment to the Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists: 

•Margaret Wheeler Meredith, of Harrodsburg, is a certified public accountant. She will represent consumers and serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2020.

The Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists is made up of five gubernatorial appointees. The Board makes periodic inspections of beauty salons and beauty schools in assigned areas, determines whether each individual and business has the required license, follows up on complaints regarding those individuals working without licenses and investigates other violations of the law and inspects premises of salons and schools to determine compliance with sanitary standards and physical requirements as established by the Board.

Garza received employee of the month award

Andrew Garza, of Harrodsburg, was selected as employee of the month for January 2018 at Northpoint Training Center. 

Garza began his employment at in June 2016 as a correctional officer. Garza was selected for the award based on his outstanding job performance. He received a letter of commendation and was assigned a reserved parking space for the month.

Harris appointed to commission

FRANKFORT — Gov. Matt Bevin has appointed Barbara Harris, of Danville, to represent the Kentucky Association of the Deaf and serve for a term expiring July 1, 2020. Harris is a retired teacher from Kentucky School for the Deaf. The Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing advises the governor and the General Assembly on policies and programs that will enhance the quality and coordination of services for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Gowers joins Hilliard Lyons

Chris Gowers has joined Hilliard Lyons as a Financial Consultant in Danville, where he interned while at Centre College. Chris has been in the financial services industry since graduating from Centre in 2011 with a B.S in finance

Most recently, Chris was an advisor in Louisville. He was brought into the industry under the firm’s former CEO Jim Stuckert, where he tried to absorb 50 years of Jim’s firsthand experience.

In his free time, you can often find Chris with his family, in a basketball gym, or at the horse races.

Readnour recognized for extraordinary service
Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center recognizes and honors one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care. Kathryn Readnour, RN, a nurse in the medical/surgical unit, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award.  A resident of Boyle County,Readnour has been caring for patients at EMRMC for nearly 15 years.
She was nominated by a patient who said, “Kathryn has shown superior care for me during my stay at the hospital. She demonstrated the level of professional excellence that would be expected from a superior hospital. She understood my problem and helped me with information and treatment. Her friendly personality and infectious smile made my stay bearable. Kathryn is a superior representative of Ephraim McDowell Hospital and I am happy to acknowledge her.”
