Pets of the Week

Published 8:19 am Tuesday, April 3, 2018

Our featured pets this week are Bardot and Nellie.

Bardot

Bardot is a very pretty nine-year-old black and white cat. We were told that she had been in her previous home most of her life and her owner had acquired more cats and Bardot did not get along with the other kitty personalities. She appears to be in good health and has been kept up to date on vaccinations. So maybe Bardot needs to be an only kitty. She is a very sweet and loving girl with people and has a quiet, non-demanding personality. Bardot has always been an indoor kitty and it seems that she would make a great friend for a senior citizen needing a feline companion.

Nellie

Nellie is a precious five-month-old mixed breed puppy. She is a pretty brown and white with some merle markings. Nellie looks like she will be a medium-sized dog when full grown. Our best guess is that she is a hound and Australian Shepherd mix. Nellie is very friendly and outgoing. She loves to play with toys and then she’s ready to cuddle at naptime. Nellie has been spayed and is just waiting to meet her perfect match. Can you give Nellie the forever home that she needs and deserves?

The weather is warming up and the grass is growing. It must be time to schedule your pet’s spring veterinary wellness exam. Now is the time to make sure your pet is up to date on recommended vaccinations. Your vet can check your pet for internal parasites and treat as necessary. The flea and tick season is arriving so now is the time to ask for advice on preventative treatments. There are many choices and the doctor can help you decide which is best for your cat or dog. Dental care is very important for pets so your vet will check for tartar build-up or any abnormalities with your pet’s teeth. A wellness exam will allow your veterinarian the opportunity to detect, treat or, ideally, prevent problems before they become serious. Your pet will live a longer and healthier life and this will make you a happy owner.

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
