Thomas W. Johnson, 74, passed away, Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016. He was born in Brooksville, Mississippi, to the late Rev. Dewitt R. Johnson and Lizzie Alice Johnson.
After living a brief time in Mississippi, Thomas moved to Danville, Kentucky where he was the owner of Johnson Masonry. He was a self-taught and accomplished mason who loved working with his hands. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, good conversations and spending time with his family and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his four brothers and eight sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Estella Williams Johnson; devoted father of Kimberly Stephens (Roderick) and Bevelyn Dent (Terry); loving grandfather of Roderick O. Stephens, Kennedy E. Stephens, Whitney Branham and Erin Wilson; three sisters, Mary Smith, Gussie McClain (Thomas), and Eliza McCoy (Willie); and a host of nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Celebration of Life will be Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen Church, 1018 South 15th Street with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be Sunday at Ratterman Keenan Southwest Chapels, 4832 Cane Run Road, Louisville, from 4-7 p.m. www.rattermans.com
