The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events for all ages. The Science in Play 2Go exhibit is currently on display in the Children’s Library. Weekly programs include Adult Storytime on Mondays at 9 a.m., Coding Classes on Mondays at 4 p.m., Adult Education Classes on Mondays at 5 p.m., Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6 p.m., and Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

• Come Fly With Us!, On Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m., the library will host “Come Fly With Us!” presented by David Roberts and Patti Powell. This event is a companion program to the Scarlet Cup Theater’s latest presentation, Departures.

Hear the exciting background for Departures, a British comedy to be presented by Scarlet Cup Theater in the Danville-Boyle County Airport. Learn what airports are really like, including “war stories” of a former airline flight attendant and the story of Stuart Powell Field. This free program will be held in the Reading Room at the Library.

Scarlet Cup Theater is a site-specific theater dedicated to bringing international and contemporary drama and comedy to the Danville Community. Show dates for Departures are Oct. 4-6 and Oct. 11-13 at 8 p.m., and Oct. 7 and 14 at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at danvillearts.org.

• Baby Lapsit, On Monday, Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m., the library will offer Baby Lapsit. The program focuses on early literacy skills and is designed for infants up to 12 months old and their caregivers. During the program, babies sit on their caregiver’s lap and interact with them while enjoying rhyming songs, finger plays, and short stories designed with babies in mind. Registration is required.

• Family Game Night, On Monday, Oct. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m., the library will host a Family Game Night. All ages are welcome to stop by and play a wide variety of board games, including both classic games (e.g., Monopoly, Pictionary, and Clue) and newer games (e.g., Apples to Apples, Telestrations, and Yeti in My Spaghetti). Pizza and snacks will be available. This event will be held in the Community Room.

• French Café,On Monday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m., the library will host French Café. People of all ages can gather together in a relaxed atmosphere to practice speaking French in casual conversation. This event is great for those who are fluent speakers, as well as for those who are just learning the language. The French Café will be held in the Mahan Gallery at the Library.

• ‘All the King’s Men’ community book discussion, On Thursday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m., the library will host a community book discussion for “All the King’s Men,” a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Robert Penn Warren. Moderated by Dr. Mark Lucas, Jobson Professor of English as Centre College, this program is a part of Kentucky Humanities’ statewide literacy initiative, Kentucky Reads. • Tween Master Builders, On Thursday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m., tweens can stop by the Library to build or create anything imaginable using a wide variety of building supplies, including LEGOs, K’NEX, Brain Flakes, Magna Tiles, and marble run tracks. Snacks will be provided. For ages 9-13.

• Kid’s Homeschool Book Club, The Kid’s Homeschool Book Club will meet on Friday, Oct. 5 at 2:00 p.m. Led by Children’s Librarian Libby McWhorter, this book club is designed for children ages 5-8 and features a book discussion and trivia activities.  This month, participants are reading Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe. Snacks will be served. Register for this club in the Children’s Library.

• LEGO Club, The library will host LEGO Club on Friday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. in the Storytime Room. The finished LEGO creations will be placed on display in the Library.
