Mercer man charged with attempted murder of police officer

HARRODSBURG — A Mercer County man was arrested early Monday morning after a shooting incident involving Harrodsburg police.

At just after 3 a.m. Monday, Harrodsburg police officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Bacon Court. When they arrived, they were confronted by John Michael Peach, 32, who was armed. As a result, shots were fired and Peach was injured, according to police.

He was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released, according to Kentucky State Police.

Following an initial investigation by KSP of the officer involved shooting incident, Peach was charged with fourth-degree assault domestic violence with a bond set at $2,000; and attempted murder of a police officer, with a $200,000 bond set.

He was being held in the Boyle County Detention Center Monday evening. He is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 8.
