The continued development of downtown Danville will be the topic of discussion following a special online presentation being hosted by The Heart of Danville and Develop Danville tomorrow at the Boyle County Public Library.
“How to Get Downtown Critical Mass” is the title of the 45-minute video that will be shown at 11:30 a.m. It was developed by Destination Development Association, which brings together “people with a passion for creating great communities with the ideas, expertise and partners they need,” according to its website; and Roger Brooks International, whose mission is to “increase local and visitor spending by assisting communities … in their efforts to become outstanding destinations.”
Heart Executive Director Dustin Duvall said after the video presentation, he hopes there will be a “positive” discussion on how downtown Danville can attract more visitors, and not just during special events and festivals.
Duvall said anyone who cares about downtown and its business owners would benefit from this meeting. He’s also expecting local government officials and agencies to attend.
The focus will be figuring out ways to get visitors and larger crowds downtown on a regular basis all year long, Duvall said.
The meeting will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and reservations can be made by calling The Heart of Danville at (859) 236-2361. Lunch will not be provided, but everyone is welcome to bring their own, Duvall said.
