Betty Hulett Crouch, 89, also known as Grandma Betty, of Coldstream Drive, Danville, died Monday, September 9, 2019 at Ephraim McDowell Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Crouch; her siblings, Richard Hulett, Willie Mack Hulett, Loraine McMurtry, Robert Hulett, Calvin Hulett, Jr., and Ralph Hulett; a grandson, Matthew Cox; and a great-great granddaughter, Maykalie Sapp.
Born August 8, 1930 in Garrard County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Milton Hulett (Cap) and Annie Hurt Hulett. She was a 1948 graduate of Camp Dick Robinson High School. Betty worked hard her entire life to help provide for her family and worked at many places, including the Kentucky State Hospital, the Burger Boy, the White Barn restaurant, and the Camp Nelson Distillery. She was a real estate broker and a past president of the Danville Board of Realtors. Betty worked in the Danville School System where she served in the Toliver Elementary cafeteria, as crossing guard and as a school bus monitor.
She was a talented artist and dressed in bright colors and blingy hats. Betty had a lifelong love of horses, enjoyed eating out with her family, and was actively involved in the lives of her family members. Most importantly, she loved Jesus Christ and prayed for her family members every day. She was a member of First Baptist Church and recently attended Grace Presbyterian Church with her daughter. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Governor James Garrard Chapter.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Woods (Joe) of Bryantsville, Donna Brown (Mike) of Taylor Mill, Angela Correll (Jess) of Stanford, and Barbara Pinkston (Earl) of Danville; grandchildren are Lea Ann Poynter (Fred), Cindy Pinkston, Carol (Terry) Williams, Melissa Fields (Freddy), Dana Poynter (Mike), Carmen Lake, Jeremy Woods (Linda), Scott Cox (Jennifer), Tasha Brown, Adrienne Correll, Preston Correll (Rachel) and Leigh Correll; 33 great grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and double cousins.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 12 and the funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 13 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home in Lancaster with Dr. Tim Mathis and Wheeler Hulett officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Walter Tee Hulett, Mack Gordon Hulett, Jim Best, Buddy Hulett, Rusty Hulett, Jeremy Woods, Jason McKinley, and Preston Correll.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Hulett, Chas Perry, Greg Correll, Jimmy Rousey, E.G. Plummer, Greg Maupin, Earl Campbell, Buddy Hester, Tex Washington, Betsy Wilson, Idella Nash, Linda Green, Kay Huffman, Nina Kirkland, Dr. Jonathon Clark, and Dr. Barry Spoonamore.
Memorial donations are requested to First Baptist Church or Friends of Good Samaritans.
