Holiday closings
• Boyle County Courthouse will be closed Friday and Monday, Dec. 23 and 26 for Christmas; and Friday, Dec. 30 and Monday Jan. 2 for New Year.
• Convenience centers will be closed Dec. 24, 26, 31 and Jan. 2.
• Recycling center, Dec. 23, 26, 30 and Jan. 2.

Advocate-Messenger publishing list of Christmas services
As Christmas approaches, The Advocate-Messenger will be publishing a listing of area Christmas Eve, Christmas-related and holiday special services. If your place of worship has a service and you would like it to be included, submit it by visiting http://bit.ly/amevents. The deadline to submit a service for publication is 8 a.m. Dec. 17. The list of services will be published in The Advocate-Messenger on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Winter break sports camp
Need to go Christmas shopping? Bring your children to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 285 Hill-n-Dale, Danville, for a free Winter Break Sports Camp from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20. A free breakfast and lunch will be provided. Parental waiver required (available at registration). There will be activities, crafts and sports organized by Wilderness Trace YMCA. The event will be held rain or shine.
Christmas Eve morning hike at wildlife refuge
The Central KY Wildlife Refuge is sponsoring a hike at 10 a.m. on Christmas Eve morning. What better way to escape the stresses of the holiday season than to go for a walk in the woods? This is a family friendly event suitable for small children. The walk will begin in the parking lot.
The Mary Ashby Cheek Nature Center will be open during this activity.
The refuge offers 500 acres of knob lands that have been preserved for use by the public. It features hiking trails of varying difficulty, a bird blind and a nature center. The parking lot is located at 605 Carpenter Creek Road in the Forkland area of Boyle County.
