Erika Marianne Schmidt Galbreath, 82, died October 10, 2021, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was born October 1, 1939, in Elbogen, Sudetenland, daughter of the late Karl and Anna Plutz Schmidt. Erika immigrated from Germany to the United States of America in October 1956. Erika was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She loved to crochet, knit, sew, and make things with patterns. Erika enjoyed listening to music and going to festivals. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and her grand friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Geisla; and two brothers, Osie and Walter.
She is survived by her husband, William E. Galbreath Sr.; four children, Christopher M. Galbreath of Perryville, Karen B. Ely Galbreath Howard (John Howard) of Nicholasville, Kelvin R. Galbreath of Danville, and William “Jay” E. Galbreath, Jr. of Danville; six grandchildren, Christine M. Emerson, Michelle L. Humphrey, Casey A. Galbreath, Cheyenne Elam, Brayden A. Galbreath, and Connor C. Galbreath; seven great-grandchildren, Hayleigh J. Humphrey, Taylor E. Emerson, Emma K. Emerson, Grant W. Wheeldon, Kosey J. Humphrey, Kingston A. Jones, and Roselynn E. Jones; a sister, Anna; a brother, Bruno; and her special friends, Stefanie and Jerrod Elam, Carol and David McQuerry, and Carolyn and Jimmy Cutter.
A funeral service will be 12 pm, Monday, October 18, 2021, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. The Celebrant will be Father Anthony McLaughlin. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
