Pets of the Week – Feb. 7, 2022
Published 7:43 am Monday, February 7, 2022
If you have ever considered adopting a dog, now is the time to do it: DBCHS’s adoption floor is at capacity, full of adoptable pups in need of a warm, loving home. Bella, Bowser, Callie, Dozer, Finn, Penny, Riley, Sarah, Snowflake, Wilson, and Zola are waiting for you!
Not only do we have all kinds of different dogs available for adoption, but we’re also running an adoption special for February. All adult dogs are only $25!
Every pup is fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated before going home, so come find the love of your life today!
Let’s take a closer look at our pets of the week, Callie and Wilson.
Callie is a two-year-old Shepherd mix with stunning eyes and a friendly, if shy, personality. She came to us when her owner could no longer care for her.
Callie is nervous at the shelter, but we can tell that she is a lovely pup under the anxiety.
According to her original owner, Callie gets along with other animals. When she was the office dog for a day, Callie showed playfulness and acted like she would enjoy interacting with other dogs. We hope to find out more about that once the weather is nicer and we can hold doggie playgroups in our yard!
Wilson came to the shelter as a stray. When animal control officers picked him up, his ears were beaten up beyond recognition due to a prolonged untreated double ear infection. He will always have wonky ears, but they don’t seem to bother Wilson too much!
This shepherd mix is an older gentleman; we estimate about seven years old. Wilson seems to have good manners and will take his antibiotics without fuss, as long as you put them in a piece of cheese, please!
If you are interested in adopting any of our amazing dogs, please bring your family for a meet and greet Monday – Friday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Before coming out, give us a call to ensure the dog you’re interested in is still available and complete an online application to save time: https://bit.ly/2Qo4EfE.
Can’t make it to the shelter during open hours? Email me at karikuh@dbchs.org to make an appointment.
Did you know? Last year we fixed more than 440 outdoor cats through the Community Cat Program; let’s do it again in 2022! If you or someone you know is feeding outdoor cats in Boyle County, we can get them spayed/neutered and vaccinated at no cost to you! Email us at dbchs@bellsouth.net to make an appointment. Together let’s reach beyond shelter walls and save lives.
