The Caring Friends Hope and Help ministry is hosting an event for those dealing with grief.

The event is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 at Perryville Baptist Church. Lunch will be provided along with a message of hope and encouragement from Tammy Hackworth, the wife of Perryville Baptist Church Pastor Aaron Hackworth. A song will shared by Perryville Baptist Member Chad Blackwell.

The Caring Friends Hope and Help ministry holds a monthly Sunday meetings and activities at various locations to be a support group for those in mourning.

“We welcome anyone who is entering, encountering, or leaving the season of grief,” said Caring and Friends director Barbara Satterly. “I’m a widow and when we first started about 4 years ago we we’re just for widows and widowers. But we had people ask to join say because their mother had passed and they needed a support group. We also don’t just minister to individuals, we work with several funeral homes to and try to be a comfort and support for families dealing with grief. The Caring Friends when they first met expressed that their loneliest times were on Sunday. Sundays are when most families spend time together and they would be at home with no one. We try to focus on gathering together once a month to share words of encouragement to lift each other up.”

Although the ministry is based under the South District Baptist Association, it is a non-denominational ministry.

“The most important part is that we work together to advance the kingdom,” said Dr. Jim Clontz, director of missions for South District Baptist Association. “We are having a giving conference right here in town at Gethsemane Baptist Church on the 24th, We will be welcoming people from our association and others. We will have a speaker from the Kentucky Baptist Convention to talk about how we can work together and increase giving.”
