Injured driver transported to UK after collision

Danville Police along with emergency crews responded to the intersection of Gose Pike and the Danville Bypass for an injury collision on Monday Jan. 30 just after 4:00 p.m.
Initial investigation determined that a 2006 Saturn Vue operated by Bonnie Ray, 88, of Lancaster attempted to make a left turn from the Bypass onto the north side of Gose Pike.
Ray turned into the path of a Ford F250 pickup hauling an empty cattle trailer. The driver of the pickup Darrell Waterfill, 76, of Harrodsburg was traveling west on the Bypass and was unable to avoid the collision. The front of the pickup collided with the passenger side of the Saturn resulting in considerable damage.
Ray had to be extricated from her vehicle and transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center by Boyle County EMS. She was later transported to UK HealthCare with severe injuries. Waterfill was transported via private vehicle to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
The roadway was shut down for several hours while police investigated the incident. The collision remains under investigation by Danville Police accident reconstructionist.
Danville Police were assisted at the scene by Boyle County EMS and Danville City Fire Department.
