The Boyle County Health Department held its annual flu vaccination drive-thru clinic all day Wednesday in the parking lot in front of its building on Third Street. Health Department Director Brent Blevins said the event did two things: made getting the vaccine quick and easier for the public; and served as an emergency preparedness exercise for the staff.
Blevins said the staff was practicing how they would be able to administer medications in mass quantities if the need ever arose. The department put its training to use at local schools a while back when there was an outbreak of the swine flu, Blevins said.
