Danville's Christmas tree is bright with colors when the lights were turned on Saturday night before the downtown parade.

The Heart of Danville Christmas parade that was scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. has now officially been canceled.

The organization posted on its Facebook page that although the event is canceled, there will still be a special surprise for everyone on their page at 6 p.m. Saturday.

“We will bring you a tiny bit of magic in a different way,” the post read.

Although the parade is canceled, the city’s Christmas tree lighting will still take place Friday evening at 6 p.m. Anyone attending is asked to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. The event will take place live on the city of Danville’s Facebook page, and citizens are encouraged to watch it online.
