Kentucky School for the Deaf held its 198th graduation ceremony Wednesday afternoon despite last-second changes caused when a rain shower blew in just minutes before the event was to be held outside.
As high winds promised to push a rain shower through the area about 1:30 p.m., several KSD staff and officials quickly moved chairs and equipment into the gym and were ready to begin the graduation ceremony right on time at 2 p.m.
The audience of family and friends were initially supposed to watch graduation from their vehicles to be socially distanced, but they were allowed into the gym and took seats in the bleachers. And the 11 seniors marched inside and sat in director’s chairs which signified they are now the directors of their own lives.
