Danville man arrested on trafficking charges

Danville man Dennis Ray Douglas was arrested on several counts of drug trafficking on July 20 after police uncovered different types of drugs and weapons in a car during a traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle Daniel Short was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Danville Police conducted a traffic stop on S. 4th St. for driver’s license and equipment violations on Saturday, July 20, just before 7:30 p.m.
During the investigation, Danville PD K-9 officer Nick Adams and K-9 partner Crickett were summoned to the scene. Cricket alerted to the presence of narcotics and a search was conducted.
Officers located several gallon sized bags of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, loose Adderall pills, methamphetamine, cash and a suspected narcotic transaction ledger.
The search also yielded four firearms; .357 revolver, 22 rifle, 12-gauge shotgun, and .45 caliber pistol. The operator of the vehicle Daniel Short, 51, of Danville was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The passenger of the vehicle, Dennis Ray Douglas, 61, of Danville was arrested for trafficking marijuana, trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking a controlled substance 1st degree 10 or more dosage units, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
