J. Malcolm Miller, 62, of Danville, passed away surrounded by his family and friends on February 16, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on February 6, 1963, in Louisville, he was the son of the late James M. and Sara Elizabeth Fuller Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Randall Riley.
Malcolm dedicated much of his life to serving others as a paramedic, a calling that brought him both fulfillment and joy. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his community and his compassionate care for those in need. A 1981 graduate of Danville High School, he attended the University of Kentucky. Malcolm was a former Captain of the Danville-Boyle County Rescue Squad, a founding member, and former Deputy Director of Boyle County Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Most recently, he worked as a Transport Member at Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Respiratory Care Center.
A devoted husband, father, and “Grandaddy,” Malcolm was also a faithful member and active Deacon of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. He cherished weekends spent with family and friends at Lake Cumberland, creating lasting memories that reflected his love for the outdoors and the people closest to him.
Malcolm is survived by his loving wife, Amy Riley Miller; his beloved children, Sara Beth Miller, Jacob (Laura) Sims, and Hannah Sims (Benjamin Coffman); and his cherished grandson, Grayson Sims, with another grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth (Wade) VanMeter; his niece and nephews, Cate, Miller, and Lucas VanMeter; and his mother-in-law, Nancy Riley.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Tommy Valentine.
Pallbearers will be Richard Kerbaugh, Hugh Gates Hines, Dale Knight, Aaron Stamper, Brandon Jenkins, Dewey Cummins, Brad Ellis, Brian Sears, John Wesley, Justin Kendrick, and Jeff Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rockcastle Regional Transport Team and current and former Boyle County EMS members.
Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
