STAFF REPORT
On Monday, Danville Police received a call from a woman who said she had been assaulted and was being held against her will by her husband in a tan Mazda Tribute.
The female passenger’s family contacted law enforcement and a search for the vehicle ensued. Police located and stopped the vehicle on Shelby Street in Junction City. The male driver was identified as Samuel Blakey, 41, of Nancy, Kentucky. The adult female passenger was safe, but officers did determine she had been the victim of a physical assault.
The female had attempted to exit the vehicle several times. In Pulaski County the victim attempted to exit the car but was pulled by the hair back inside by Blakey. Blakey initially gave a false name to officers, but was quickly recognized and taken into custody without incident.
A search of the vehicle uncovered marijuana and prescription narcotics. The altercation was said to have occurred because Blakey had not been able to use methamphetamine in several days and was upset that the victim did not have any money. Blakey was lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center on the following charges: disregarding a stop sign, operating on a suspended license, giving an officer false identifying information, assault, unlawful imprisonment, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police respond to assault call
On Aug. 4, Danville police responded at 3:08 p.m. to an assault call in the parking lot of Christ the Head Church at 845 E. Main St.
Prior to the assault Vaughn Jones, 45, of Danville was operating a Dodge pickup eastbound on East Main Street, and Shawn Napier, 50, of Danville was operating a Chevrolet pickup westbound on East Main Street, according to police.
Each accused the other of being in the opposing lane of traffic. Napier swerved, resulting in one of his tires striking the curb causing it to deflate. The vehicles did not collide with each other.
As Napier’s vehicle became inoperable, he pulled into Christ the Head Church to change the tire. Jones drove back through the area and observed Napier changing the tire. As Jones started to exit his truck and render aid, police say Napier struck him in the head with the handle of a tire jack. Jones was treated at the scene and transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center by Boyle County EMS with a head injury.
Napier was arrested and lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center and charged with assault.
