Boyle County will be holding a public engagement meeting on Thursday, August 24 about the new comprehensive plan from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Showroom at 2405 Lebanon Road in Danville.
The meeting is for people to learn about what the comprehensive plan is, how they hope to change it, and how to bring comments about it to their local government. The comprehensive plan is used by Planning and Zoning, and is a guideline for future growth of a community.
The comprehensive plan is a long-term plan for the next 20 years that determines a community’s goals and development. It usually contains a map of future land use for the entire county, and lays the foundation for zoning codes on things like subdivisions, agricultural land, or industrial development.
The time has come for Boyle County P&Z to update their plan, which was last updated in 2018. Each local government – the City of Danville, Junction City, the City of Perryville, and the Boyle County Fiscal Court – is involved in putting together the new comprehensive plan with the help of the Bluegrass Area Development District. Everyone in Boyle County is welcome to attend Thursday’s meeting.
County residents are also welcome to complete a survey in relation to changing the comprehensive plan. The survey includes questions about what residents would like to see in terms of residential development, economic development, transportation improvements, and other things.
It has questions such as
• “What are the most important items for the quality of life in Boyle County?”
•“What types of transportation improvements would you prioritize?”
•“What characteristics of development should be emphasized in future residential developments?”

People will be able to provide input about the plan at Thursday’s meeting, and talk to their magistrates. Attendees may break down into smaller meetings with each magistrate’s district.
