Downtown Downbeat is back and this time with a local legend. Michael Hughes with ‘Michaelfly and The Sounds’ is the featured group on September 7 at 7 p.m. A community staple, Michael is known not only for his musicianship, but also the ‘Soul of 2nd Street’ music festival in Danville which celebrates some of Danville’s history through music and festivities. Coming right off of another very successful festival in August, Michaelfly will be primed and ready to take the stage at Weisiger Park.

Hundreds of patrons have gathered for live music every first Thursday. From rock to soul, Downtown Downbeat has featured many musicians, instruments, and genres. Michaelfly and The Sounds will bring all the groove— disco, R&B, funk, and many more genres will be featured so dancers, get those shoes ready! This one will be great for listening and even better for dancing.

The City of Danville’s EDC will be activated which allows for patrons to take their drinks from participating businesses out to the public areas on Main Street. With the EDC plastic cup, enjoy your drink and food to-go for dinner and a show! Downtown Downbeat takes place on the first Thursday of every month from 6-9pm. At 6 pm, come to Constitution Square for our local opening act and grab some food and drink from one of our great Main Street restaurants and bars.
