LEXINGTON — Max Germann of Boyle County and Marshall Hart of Mercer County earned top-10 finishes Saturday at the KHSAA State Cross Country Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Germann, a senior, finished seventh in the Class 2A boys race with a time of 16:42 over the 3.1-mile course at the Kentucky Horse Park. He had the highest finish for any local boy since Boyle’s Ezekiel Harless finished seventh in the same race in 2018.

Hart, a junior, was ninth in the same race with a time of 16:47.

Bastin, a sophomore who was a state runner-up last year, was the fastest local female runner at the state meet, finishing 15th in the Class 2A girls race with a time of 20:59.

Several other area runners finished in the top 50 in their respective races: senior Sam Lewis of Mercer was 25th in the 2A boys race, sophomore Adriana Polhemus of Mercer was 46th and seventh-grader Siddalea Gray of Boyle was 50th in the 2A girls race, and junior Addison Hill of Danville Christian was 47th in the 1A girls race.

Mercer was 12th and Boyle was 17th among 34 boys teams in Class 2A, Boyle was 14th and Mercer was 17th of 27 teams in the 2A girls competition and DCA was 22nd of 35 teams in the 1A boys standings.
