Gay Gordon Lyons, 76, of Danville passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Born September 18, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Francis and Maxine Marie Williams Gordon. Gay’s passion was her family. She took great pride in hosting them at holidays and on Sundays for dinner. Her cooking was second to none. Gay was fiercely loyal to those she loved and was a confidant to many. She also enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren in their many activities. Gay was a talented quilter and supplied most every member of her family with at least one quilt for their home. She loved to sit in her rocking chair and watch the hummingbirds outside of her window while she quilted or crocheted. For several years, she made afghans and caps for newborns at Ephraim McDowell and Haven Care Center, as well as the babies of friends and family. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Jim Lyons; son, Richard Todd Lyons (Susan Matherly) of Danville; daughter, Kristina Marie (Sgt. Major USMC ret. John K.) Wyatt of SC; sisters: Constance Lee (Gary) Ross of Lexington and Gina Marie Branaman of Danville; and 5 grandchildren: Richard Todd Lyons, Jr. and Elizabeth Christine Lyons, both of Danville, and Reagan Grace Wyatt, Payton Sophia Wyatt, and Quinn Elise Wyatt, all of SC. Gay was preceded in death by a son, James E. Lyons, III (Jimmie). Pallbearers will be TJ Lyons, Elizabeth Lyons, Johnny Wyatt, Zachary Thornton, Charlie Perry and Jeremy Tarter.
