During the Perryville City Council meeting on Jan. 4, it was announced that City Clerk Trista Hinkle will be resigning from her position effective Jan. 11.

“Thank you for the opportunity to serve the city of Perryville,” Hinkle said in her resignation letter. “I have enjoyed my time here and the skills I have learned will greatly help my success as I progress in my career. Thank you to all who have helped and supported me during my tenure. I hope to keep in touch and will continue to support the city in other ways.”

Mayor Rob Kernodle thanked Hinkle for her service as city clerk.

“Ms. Hinkle we appreciate your time and effort,” Kernodle said. “You made my transition from council to mayor seamless and easy. We thank you.”

Members of the council also thanked Hinkle for her service to the city. It was announced that the city has received 39 applications to fill the soon-to-be vacant position. The hiring process is ongoing.

“Ms. Hinkle has been very instrumental and helpful in narrowing it down to the most qualified individuals,” Kernodle said.

In other news from the meeting:

• The council voted to have two of the city’s old police cruisers be posted for sale via auction through Baker Auctions and Real Estate.

• It was announced that the city has collected $78,957.50 in property tax revenue for 2023. A total of $10,618.40 remains to be collected from 55 unpaid bills, six of which are from unpaid taxes from 2022.
