Police chase ends in flipped car in Perryville

On the evening of Jan. 11, a police chase initiated by a Kentucky State Police trooper ended in a collision in Perryville with traffic stopped for several hours. The trooper observed a 2002 Nissan Altima making reckless maneuvers on West Main Street in Danville before proceeding along Perryville Road. The Nissan then passed multiple vehicles at high speed. The trooper then attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the Nissan did not yield.
The trooper initiated a chase that ended in Perryville when the Nissan struck an commercial truck. The driver lost control of the vehicle before it flipped onto the passenger side near the intersection of US 150 and Highway 1920.
The driver of the Nissan was identified as Jason Epps, 20, and a passenger identified as the 19-year-old Trveze Page, both of Lexington. They were transported to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center with non-life-threating injuries.
The driver of the truck was identified as 36-year-old Matthew Stephens of Salvisa who was also transported to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center with non-life threating injuries.
Kentucky State Police have not released information regarding charges for occupants of the Nissan or why they fled from the trooper. The KSP investigation is ongoing.
