Boyle BOE recognizes student groups, Junction City Elementary principal retiring

The Boyle County Board of Education met for their regular meeting on April 18, where they recognized several student groups.
Superintendent Mark Wade recognized the following groups for outstanding achievements, and gave certificates to students:
- BCMS Academic Team with coach Tyler Murphy
- BCHS Academic Team with coach Eli Edwards
- BCHS and BCMS wrestlers who competed at state with coaches Seth Lucas and Kyle Terry
- BCHS band members who made the All State Band, with Band Director Zach Shelton.
Wade also shared that Pam Shunk, principal at Junction City Elementary, is officially retiring. “She wouldn’t ask anyone to do anything she hasn’t done herself and will be missed,” Wade said.
Enrollment at all Boyle County is currently at a total of 2,793.
- Junction City Elementary: 385
- Perryville Elementary: 283
- Woodlawn Elementary: 627
- Boyle County Middle School: 632
- Boyle County High School: 866.
In other business, the board:
- Approved the fees and calendar for the Boyle County Childhood Learning Center, which is opening July 2024.
- Awarded a proposal from Junior tours for the Middle School Chicago trip for the fall of 2024.
- Approved an agreement with St. Edward’s High School for the Boyle County High School Varsity game on September 7, 2024.
- Amended the 2023-2024 Extra Service Salary Schedule.
The next meeting will be held on May 16 in the library at Boyle County Middle School.
