Five players reach second round at state tennis

Five area tennis players reached the second round of the KHSAA State Tennis Championships after winning first-round matches Tuesday.
Hannah Bischoff and Maya Smith of Boyle County advanced in the girls doubles bracket after a first-round win, as did Kyra Cain and Gracie Demrow of Casey County.
Sara Dunn of Mercer County won her first-round girls singles match before bowing out in the second round.
Two singles players and two doubles teams from area schools lost in the first round of the boys competition.
