Max Germann, a recent graduate of Boyle County, has been named the 2024 Midway University/KHSAA Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
Germann was recognized last Tuesday during an awards program in Midway.
German was previously announced as the male student-athlete of the year in track and field. He was chosen for the overall award from among the honorees in all KHSAA sports and sport-activities.
Beginning in May 2016, Midway has presented a Female Student-Athlete of the Year award at each KHSAA girls state championship event. The awards program was expanded in 2019-20 to include male student-athletes, with Midway honoring a deserving student-athlete in each KHSAA sport and sport-activity.
The awards are based on athletic and academic achievement, as well as community service and leadership, with Midway choosing one overall Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year each academic year.
School administrators, coaches and athletic directors nominate student-athletes, and the nominees are voted upon by a closed panel consisting of representatives from Midway.
Germann finished sixth in the Class 2A boys 3,200-meter run and 11th in the 1,600 run in his final high school competition at last week’s state track and field championships. He finished seventh in the Class 2A boys race at the state cross country meet last fall, and he also competed on the Boyle swim team.
