Ruby Roberts Marshall, 97, widow of Alex Moore Marshall, Sr., died Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the home of her daughter in Danville, KY. Ruby and Alex were married for 70 years. Ruby retired from the Invoice-Records department of Montgomery Ward after 30 years of service. She was a longtime member and teacher of the Ladies Sunday School Class of Boone’s Creek Baptist Church, Lexington for over 40 years. Ruby was born in Fayette County, KY on June 7, 1927, to the late R.L. and Annie Hisel Roberts. Ruby is survived by her children: Louanne (Tim) Mathis and Alex (Pam) Marshall Jr; 6 grandsons: Joseph (Rebecca) Mathis, Philip (Mary) Mathis, Caleb (Janie) Mathis, Steven (Kristin) Marshall, Chris (Emily) Marshall, and Alex (Lacy) Marshall, III; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, and church family and friends. Special thanks to her “Sunday” caregivers, her nieces, Regina Burchfield and Debi Clark. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 29 at Boone’s Creek Baptist Church, Lexington, with burial in the Athens Boone’s Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Saturday. Donations are suggested to the Boone’s Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, Heritage Hospice, or the Alzheimer’s Association. W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
