Pet of the Week

The Pet of the Week is Georgia, a gentle eight-year-old German Shepherd looking for a soft place to spend her senior years.
Georgia is well-behaved and looks to her people for directions, and she’s an expert at walking on a leash; no pulling at all! Did we mention that Georgia is housebroken? Another sign of her A+ demeanor is her patience with children. You should have seen how tender she was with a two-year-old toddler!
The mature gal is slower than she used to be – she’s got arthritis and she’s eight, after all! But when you least expect it Georgia gets a burst of energy and chases a tennis ball…and by chase we mean lope. Slowly! After playtime, you’ll find her chilling on the cold floor or lounging on her orthopedic bed resting her bones, her second and third favorite things. Number one is getting affection and giving kisses.
Georgia will make a devoted and loyal companion to whoever takes her home. She’s got only two requirements: daily joint supplements and regular grooming for her tufted hair. Oh, and love! You can be her hero. Get her out of the shelter and into a new home where she belongs.
Georgia is fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to spend her retirement being showered with TLC in a loving home. Meet her at DBCHS between 1-5 pm Monday and Tuesday, Noon-5 Wednesday, 11-7 on Thursday, Noon-4 Friday, and 10-3 on Saturday. Apply now: dbchs.org/adopt. We hope to see you soon!
The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) established in 1972 that promotes the humane treatment of animals through compassionate care, engagement, and support. DBCHS relies on your generosity to operate and our greatest need right now is kitten food. Our kitties prefer Purina One or Purina Naturals kitten food but can’t afford to be too picky; send them what you can! Stop by to donate or visit DBCHS’s Amazon Wishlist: https://rb.gy/hcozh
