The Pet of the Week is Karma – 50 pounds of pure love and an absolute sweetheart! With her joyful personality and impressive training through Mutts with Manners, she’ll make the perfect companion for someone looking for a loving and well-behaved dog.

The DBCHS developed the Mutts with Manners (MWM) program in 2009 to provide one-on-one training and companionship for shelter dogs. Carefully screened prison inmates are paired with the dogs for a program co-sponsored by Northpoint Training Center in Burgin, KY. Inmates, prison staff, and volunteers work together to provide dogs with basic obedience training, socialization, and behavior modification. Karma is an A+ student and so much more.

This two-and-a-half mixed breed will melt your heart: Karma’s desire to love and be loved back is so genuine that she’ll make a loyal and devoted companion. For example, her morning routine.

From Karma herself: In the morning I like to wake up and put my head on your chest. This is my way of giving you a good morning hug. I love playing with other dogs and playing with my toys too! So if you’re busy, I can entertain myself.

Speaking of entertainment, I am a little bit of a show-off. I can do all my basic commands: sit, down, wait, leave it, come, heel, and stay. On top of that, I love to roll over just to get some belly rubs!
