Montavin Quisenberry of Boyle County added to his collection of postseason football awards when he received two more honors last week.
Quisenberry was named the Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year, giving him his second major statewide player of the year award. The Gatorade award celebrates the nation’s best high school athletes for their success on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
The 5-9, 175-pound senior wide receiver, running back, defensive back and kick returner accounted for 1,788 yards and scored 28 touchdowns this season. He signed with Kentucky last week.
Quisenberry, who also was named the winner of the Paul Hornung Award from the Louisville Quarterback Club last week, is the second Boyle player and the third area player to win the Gatorade award since it was first presented in 1985, joining Lamar Dawson of Boyle (2010) and Dennis Johnson of Harrodsburg (1997).
He also was named the Class 4A Player of the Year by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association, and he is one of the top contenders for the Mr. Football award that will be presented by the KFCA later this month.
Boyle coach Justin Haddix was named the Class 4A Coach of the Year by the KFCA.
