MR. FOOTBALL BREAKING STORY Boyle’s Quisenberry named Kentucky Mr. Football

Montavin Quisenberry, the dynamic player who made big plays from multiple positions for Boyle County, has been named the winner of the 2024 Kentucky Mr. Football award by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association.

The award was announced today by the KFCA, which determines the winner through balloting of member coaches across the state.

Quisenberry becomes the third Mr. Football from Boyle, joining 2001 winner Jeff Duggins and 2010 winner Lamar Dawson, and the sixth from an area school to win the award.

The award, presented by The Associated Press from 1986-2021 and by the KFCA since 2018 – both organizations named a Mr. Football during a four-year period – is given to the top senior in Kentucky high school football.

Quisenberry, who signed with Kentucky earlier this month, had already won two other major awards given to the state’s top player, the Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year and the Paul Hornung Award.

The 5-10, 170-pound Quisenberry was a wide receiver, running back, defensive back, kick returner and even occasional quarterback this season for Boyle, which went 12-1 and extended what became the 12th-longest winning streak in state history to 32 games.

He caught 49 passes for 794 yards and 13 touchdowns, rushed 79 times for 882 yards and 13 TDs and completed five passes for 112 yards and two TDs. He also had 31 tackles and three interceptions on defense and returned one kickoff and one punt for TDs.

He finished a five-year career that included two seasons at Garrard County and three at Boyle with 151 receptions for 2,509 yards and 38 TDs, 452 rushing attempts for 4,459 yards and 61 TDs and a .680 pass completion percentage (102 for 150) for 1,357 yards and 15 TDs.

He led his team in scoring for four straight seasons and had five-year totals of 112 touchdowns and 688 points. On defense, he had 131 tackles, nine tackles for loss, eight interceptions and four forced fumbles.

He will likely be among the top 10 in the KHSAA record book in career points, touchdowns and punt return touchdowns and the top 20 in receiving touchdowns.

Quisenberry was selected for the Mr. Football from among 10 finalists named by the KFCA. He is the sixth player from an area school to win the award.
