Edward Alsman Jr., 91, of Danville, KY, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025. He was born on March 28, 1934, in Junction City, KY, to the late Ed and Mary Rigsby Alsman. Edward was a devoted husband, father, and respected member of his community. Along with his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his first wife, Jewell Alsman, and their daughters Karla and Leah Alsman, and his sisters Bertha Raider, Mary Jean Yankee, and Dorothy Louise Pennman.
He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Specialist 3rd Class. Ed was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He attended Southland Christian Church and Calvary Baptist Church.
A lifelong commitment to service characterized Edward’s professional career as a police officer with the City of Danville, where he dedicated over 22 years to law enforcement, retiring as a detective. His service extended beyond the badge as he was a proud 32nd Degree Mason and a 55-year Franklin Masonic Lodge #28 F & AM member, embodying the principles of brotherhood and community.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Gladys Shannon Alsman; his cherished daughter, Lorinda Cheryl (Stanley) Coulter; his son Kenny (Carolyn) Grubbs, his grandchildren Vanessa Hogue, Brandon Hogue, Hagen (Jessica) Grubbs, Ashley (Scott Singleton) Grubbs, Brandon Coulter, and Brad Coulter, great-grandchildren Landon, Brinlee, Lexi, Levi, Sydney, Cymry, Ryder, Aubrey, Aiden, Addison, Kace, and Sawyer. He will be remembered for his integrity, dedication, and the profound impact on the lives of those around him.
The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City, KY, with Rev. Odis Clark officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday until the Masonic Service by Franklin Logde #28 at 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Army.
