A Boyle County man died after accidentally shooting himself on Tuggle Road Wednesday.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Allen Shearer Ramsey, 29.
The Boyle County Sheriff’s Office and Boyle County EMS responded to the call regarding an accidental shooting at about 11 a.m.
According to Boyle County Sheriff Derek Robbins, the man was trying to shoot groundhogs and “somehow accidentally shot himself.” A farmhand heard the shot, went into the barn and saw the man.
“We don’t have any reason to believe it was anything but an accident,” Robbins said.
Ramsey was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center before being taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, where he died.
