1926-2016
Nadine Starnes Scott, 89, of Buckeye Road in Lancaster, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 14, 1926, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred Starnes and Ila Mae Dyehouse Starnes.
She was a homemaker and the oldest attending active member of Good Hope Baptist Church, where she also served as a Sunday School teacher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step mother, Elizabeth Starnes; three brothers, William A. Starnes, Paul Starnes and G.B. Starnes; two sisters, Christine Starnes and Toney Ray Tackett; and a sister-in-law, Helen Starnes.
Her survivors include her husband of 68 years, Thomas B. Scott; a son, Alfred Tom (Martha) Scott of Richmond; a daughter, Virginia (Phillip) Stump of Lancaster; two sisters, Joetta Talbot of Lancaster and Janie Conley of Somerset; two sisters-in-law, Marie Starnes of Dayton, Ohio and Betty Starnes of Somerset.
She is also survived by two grandchildren, Joy (Bo) Renfro and Rick (Jenny) Stump; four great-grandchildren, Rodney (Kacie) Renfro, Kara (Sam) Taylor, Nicholas (Katharyn) Stump and Myles (Annie) Stump; as well as two great-great-grandchildren, Amelia Stump and Tahari Renfro.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home by Rev. Jimmy Closterman with burial following in Paint Lick Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eddie, Ronnie, and Jerry Starnes, Doug and Gary Conley, Jim Wayne Arnold and Michael Rankin. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at the funeral home. Friends and family may leave condolences on her tribute page at www.ramsey-young.com.
