Figure out who to vote for by reading party platforms

Dear Editor,
I never thought I’d ever see such a time of political unrest. It seems one side is fighting the other side until there is little trust in the process of selecting a leader to lead our nation. I hear people say, “I don’t like either of them; I don’t trust them; I don’t know what to do.”
I found myself in that same position. To vote is a freedom we should never take for granted. If we ever stop voting, we will see America become a dictatorship rule instead of the democratic rule we enjoy now.
In this area we have followed the traditions of our families and voted the party because daddy and grandpa always voted that way and they would “turn over in their graves” if I didn’t vote like they did.
I was in a dilemma — what do I do? I looked up the 2016 Democratic and Republican platforms and read each. Now, they are rather lengthy, but worth the time to read through. After I read each, it was no problem at all to pick the one that went with my values and the direction I’d like to see my country go.
I am asking especially evangelicals to go through each party’s platform and see which is closer to their Christian values and what the Bible has to say.
An example would be Proverbs 6: 16-19: “Seven things God hates: 1) a proud look; 2) a lying tongue; 3) shedding innocent blood; 4) a heart that plans wickedness; 5) feet that rush to do wickedness; 6) a false witness; 7) one who causes hatred among people.”
This election process is probably the most critical of any. Many will be affected by its outcome. Don’t sit at home and not vote because you don’t agree with either candidate.
