This week at Boyle County Public Library 

The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include a Summer Coding Club 4 p.m. Mondays, Crafters Who Care 6 p.m. Mondays and Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In addition to these weekly events, the following library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

• Adult How-To Workshop: Cheese Making

The library offers a monthly “How-To” program series for adults where participants can explore the information and skills needed for a new hobby or activity, guided by a local expert. On Monday, June 26,  at 6 p.m., the library will host “How to Make Your Own Cheese,” presented by Miranda Woodall, education outreach specialist from Alltech. Workshop participants will learn about the science of cheese making, and how to how make fresh mozzarella cheese in only 30 minutes. This free program will be held in the Community Room.

• Kid’s Book Club

On Tuesday, June 27, at 2 p.m., the library will host the Kid’s Book Club. The club will meet weekly during the summer on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. for children who are going into grades 1-3. Each week we’ll read a different book from one of our favorite series. This week we’ll be reading “Stallion by Starlight” by Mary Pope Osborne. Children are invited to come discuss the books, participate in trivia, and enjoy snacks. Registration is required.

• Minute to Win It!

On Wednesday, June 28, at 1 p.m., teens will compete for prizes in a series of deceptively difficult 60-second challenges. This Summer Reading program will be held in the Community Room and is for ages 13-18.

• The Mark Wood Fun Show

As part of the 2017 Children’s Summer Reading Program,the zany Mark Wood will bring his entertaining show about the importance of reading to the Boyle County Public Library on Thursday, June 29,  at 10:30 a.m. This fast paced show is designed for children of all ages. Wood uses comedy, magic, and audience participation to produce an exciting and educational program. This event will be held in the Community Room. Due to limited seating, this will be a ticketed performance. The tickets are free and will be given out 30 minutes prior to the start of the show.

• Tween Lab

The library offers a monthly STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) lab for tweens where they can try out a different experiment each month. On Thursday, June 29, at 2 p.m., participants will be making “No-blender Fruit Slushies.” Tweens (ages 9-13) interested in attending may register for the program by signing up in the Children’s Library.

• Build Your Family Tree: 1-on-1 Genealogy Sessions

The library offers 1-on-1 genealogy sessions year-round. Those interested in learning more about their personal family history can work with one of the library’s reference librarians to fill out a basic family tree, then learn how to use Ancestry.com and similar resources to continue the search. Computer Classes

In the ongoing effort to promote lifelong learning, the library offers a wide variety of free computer classes every month.

Build a Website – Part 2 (HTML) on Thursday, June 29, at 2 p.m.

This class will cover a basic introduction to HTML, a language used to construct websites.
