Boyle County Fiscal Court is receiving $70,000 from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to resurface more than a mile of Wells Landing Road.

The funding has been approved by Gov. Matt Bevin and is coming from KTC’s discretionary road funds, according to information from the Republican House Majority Leadership.

“Deteriorating county roads present a hazard to residents and travelers so this funding could not come at a better time,” state Rep. Daniel Elliott said in a news release from RHML. “I applaud the transportation cabinet and Gov. Bevin for allocating these funds, which are so critical to fixing our ailing roads and keeping drivers safe.”

Boyle County Engineer Duane Campbell said the funding will not allow the county to repave the entirety of Wells Landing.

“It’s just a portion of Wells Landing, but still, it’s a beginning. The back portion of Wells Landing is in the worst shape anyway,” Campbell said. “(The funding) will get the back mile and a half.”

Magistrates voted unanimously to pass a resolution accepting the state’s funds and authorize Judge-Executive Harold McKinney to sign the necessary documents.

Wells Landing Road comes off of Stony Point Road along Ky. 34 to the northeast of Danville, near Old Bridge Golf Course.

Magistrates also accepted $133,665 in annual Rural Secondary funding from the state to resurface three other county roads:

• Clifton Road — .8 miles;

• Bonta Lane, .9 miles; and

• Medlock Road, 1.198 miles.
